For more advanced treatments for epilepsy, doctors may consider a vague nerve stimulation method which aims to stimulate the vague nerve in the neck area to allow it to continue firing to prevent convulsions. There are also more invasive procedures like deep brain stimulation, responsive neurostimulation coupled with therapies such as avoidance techniques to eliminate convulsion triggers and alternative methods like acupuncture.
